The Strategy Cycle – Planning, Tracking & Refining

Social media can sometimes feel like it’s moving faster than we can keep up. One minute there’s a trending sound, the next there’s a brand-new algorithm change—and suddenly, last week’s post feels like ancient history. But if we zoom out a little, the brands that grow steadily and meaningfully online aren’t the ones constantly chasing the latest trend. They’re the ones with a clear, considered strategy behind the scenes.
Yes, creative content matters, but what truly builds long-term visibility is strategy. When I work with clients, I help shape an approach that’s purposeful from the beginning: setting meaningful goals, building a flexible content plan, and keeping a close eye on what’s actually resonating. Strategy doesn’t always offer instant results—but over time, it creates a digital presence that’s consistent, intentional, and rooted in your brand’s voice.

Step One: Planning With Purpose
We always begin by laying the groundwork. This means sitting down (virtually or in-person) and really talking through what you want your content to do. That might be attracting new customers, staying front-of-mind for existing ones, or simply feeling more confident and consistent with your posts.
From there, we explore what kind of content supports those goals. Maybe it’s informative posts that position you as a trusted voice. Maybe it’s behind-the-scenes snippets that humanise your brand. Or storytelling that builds a sense of connection. I bring your tone, values, and audience into every step, to shape content that feels like you.
Once we’ve got that direction, I’ll build a flexible, supportive content calendar. It’s structured enough to give you confidence, but adaptable enough to leave space for spontaneity. Your strategy should work with your business—not add pressure to it.

Step Two: Watching the Numbers
Once your content is out in the world, we start noticing what’s working best. Are people saving your posts for later? Are they tagging their friends? Are you getting more questions or enquiries after a certain story or caption?
We focus on the data that actually matters to your business goals. This helps us understand not just what’s working, but why it’s working—and where we might want to tweak things as we move forward.
Step Three: Refining Over Time
A good content strategy is never set in stone. It evolves alongside your business. I regularly revisit the plan, review the content we’ve created, and look for opportunities to build on what’s working. That might mean changing up your post frequency, refreshing your visuals, or rewriting a call-to-action to feel more aligned with your voice.
Sometimes we rework older content to bring it back to life in a new format. Sometimes we pivot based on audience feedback or exciting changes in your business. The goal is always the same: to stay intentional, responsive, and aligned with what your audience actually wants to see.
There’s research to back this up, too. One study of UK small businesses found that using strategic social media planning helped improve brand recognition, audience relationships, and even financial results. What that tells us is simple: when content is thoughtful and consistent, it can do so much more than just fill a feed—it becomes a long-term brand builder.

What This Means for You
When I create strategies for my clients, I treat it like a collaboration. We talk. We plan. We refine. And we create content that not only reflects your business goals but also feels like an extension of who you are.
One of my clients works in the Fitness industry, and as this is an industry that is both competitive and frequently changes, it is important to keep track of metrics and be flexible with content, so that I post the right content at the right time. When a reel on a certain lifting technique gains traction, we capture content of other techniques that can fit this series of work. When more personal stories are received well, like my client's own fitness journey, we expand on content down this route to react to the type of content that their audience enjoys interacting with most.

This approach works whether you’re just finding your feet, or ready to step into a more polished, professional digital presence. Together, we’ll set goals that matter, craft content that connects, and build a strategy that grows with you.
